Neon Noir Project
In this project, developed as part of my master’s thesis at film school, I aimed to capture the essence of neon-noir aesthetics, presenting a gritty, atmospheric alleyway scene that captures an intense urban mood. The setting is an abandoned, dimly lit street, illuminated by flickering neon signs and worn-out fluorescent lights, casting sharp, eerie contrasts across the rain-soaked, trash-strewn pavement. Smog drapes the air, amplifying the claustrophobic and uneasy ambiance, while a dehumanized figure hidden beneath a body bag, hints at the dark narratives hidden within the city’s underbelly.
I developed a custom puddle material in Substance Designer to realistically mimic raindrop ripples and utilized Niagara particle systems to create a falling rain effect, bringing a dynamic element to the scene.
Assets used: Primarily Yakohama Asset Pack, with some additional details.
